I am an inventor, media scientist, applied futurist, and the debut author of the Vincent on Mars books in the Artists on Planets Series. My fascination with space exploration began when I was six years old, watching Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong take the first step on the Moon in 1969. I dreamed of visiting Mars too, just like Vincent does. I have loved books since I was a young child. When I became a parent, I avidly read children’s picture books with my own kids and invented stories for them too.
Professionally, I am a humanist scholar turned technology innovator. My research at renowned institutions like the MIT Media Lab, Interval Research, UC Berkeley, Yahoo!, and Microsoft has been dedicated to enabling media consumers to become media producers, and to connecting people, the Web, and the world. If you would like to learn more about my career in technology, please visit MarcDavis.Me and my LinkedIn Profile. In my technology work, I consistently invented twenty years ahead. About a decade ago, I began to look fifty years into the future. Concerned and inspired by what I envisioned, I researched and developed a series of books that I am now beginning to share with the world.
As a child, as a parent, and as an educator, I wish I had books like Vincent on Mars and the Vincent on Mars: Illustrated Glossary—so I decided to create them myself and share them with you! I aim to inspire this generation, and future ones, with a love of nature, art, and science, active empathy for others, and a sense of wonder about our universe. I want to support young readers with an empowering belief in their own creativity. Most importantly, through these books, I hope to help us all to explore, discover, and invent a better future for humanity, for our planet, and beyond.
The Vincent on Mars books are the beginning of that journey. Come join us!
